I talked with Tom in Columbus and I do hope the future functionality will include the ability to create "my tour" (like my exhibit) with maps to save and use as well as podcasts for audio tours. One advantage of Omeka seemed to be that it made someone less tech savvy like myself a bit more self-sufficient. I suspect that the coins plugin might make a good starting place, but if I can learn enough to start thinking about something richer (along the lines of the SIOC plugins for Drupal and WordPress), I'd be delighted!
